<p>Using Sunet’s cloud-based service Play, you can store and share sound and images, and in this way create and maintain a media library. The service has a number of useful add-on functions.<strong> </strong></p>
<h2>How the service works</h2>
<p>Sunet’s Play service is integrated with LMS platforms (such as Canvas, Moodle, etc.), and also works together with other systems, due to a comprehensive API. The service is based on the platform provided by the company Kaltura. Organisations affiliated to the service are able to install their own address (such as play.organisation.se). At this address, you can activate the add-on functions available in Kaltura.</p>

<p>Organisations affiliated to the service can log in at play.organisation.se via SWAMID. The SWAMID login gives all employees at the organisation automatic access to a personal space on play.HEI.se. In this space, they can manage their media content.</p>
<p>All rights to data stored in the service are owned by the organisation ordering Play.</p>
<h2>This is required to access the service</h2>
<p>Organisations that are affiliated to Sunet and members of the identity federation SWAMID can order Play from Sunet, provided they are also affiliated to SWAMID SAML/WebSSO for login to federated web applications.<strong> </strong></p>
<h2>User support</h2>
<p>Sunet has no central user support for Play. Organisations that order the service are themselves responsible for offering support to their own users.</p>
<h2>What does it cost?</h2>
<p>The fee for using Play is made up from three parts:</p>

<li>Infrastructure and support fee based on the number of full-time students. The price varies according to the size of the HEI (number of full-time students). Please contact media@sunet.se or see the contract for details.</li>
<li>The basic fee for the service is based on the number of full-time students, approximately* 25.20 SEK per full-time student.</li>
<li>Storage, approximately* 0.61 SEK per GB per month.</li>

<p>Sunet’s Mailfilter makes it easy to manage antivirus programs and spam sorting centrally. The service filters both incoming and outgoing email for viruses, phishing and spam before the email reaches the organisation’s own email server. Because all the organisations affiliated to Sunet’s Mailfilter collaborate, including globally, information about a virus outbreak in one organisation will quickly be passed on to the others.<strong> </strong></p>
<h2>How the service works</h2>
<p>The filtering means that the subject line, or “x header”, of the email is marked as “spam”, “virus” or “phishing” before it reaches the organisation, or alternatively such emails are deleted permanently. The organisation decides what measures to take itself, by configuring filter settings via an internet interface. As an additional service, it is also possible to have the email archived.</p>
<p>Sunet’s Mailfilter is powerful, flexible, and robust. The service is based on the program CanIt-Domain-PRO from Roaring Penguin Software Inc. It has been implemented by the joint Nordic computer network NORDUnet, and uses both the fourth and sixth versions of the internet protocol, IPv4 and IPv6. When logging in, you use SWAMID, which simplifies the account and password handling.</p>

<p>All organisations affiliated to Sunet can order Sunet’s Mailfilter for one or several domains and subsidiary domains.<strong> </strong></p>

<p>Through the identity federation SWAMID, your organisation can use quality-assured and secure login for researchers, teachers and students to various services – both within and outside Sweden.<strong> </strong></p>
<h2>How SWAMID works</h2>
<p>SWAMID, the Swedish Academic Identity Federation, is operated by Sunet and covers higher education institutions (HEIs) and other public organisations linked to research and higher education.</p>
<p>The purpose of the identity federation is to reduce the cost of managing digital identities within and between organisations. SWAMID’s policy and technology is used to establish secure and controllable associations and transactions between identities and systems.</p>
<p>One example is an HEI that uses various services, such as Ladok, Prisma, e-meetings, learning platforms, and media services. Using SWAMID makes this both cheaper and easier, as the HEI does not have to manage the identities in each service separately.</p>
<p>A fundamental aspect of SWAMID is that those who own a service must be able to trust that HEIs and other organisations manage users and logins sufficiently well. Then the suppliers can trust that it is the right user who is logging in. To define what is ‘sufficiently good’, there are different trust profiles. The basic level is called SWAMID AL1. For the trust profile SWAMID AL2, there are more advanced requirements on the HEI to have identified who the user is. In some cases, even higher login security is needed.</p>
<h2>Requirements for using SWAMID</h2>
<p>Membership of SWAMID is only a requirement for identity issuers, that is organisations with users who need to log in to services. Organisations affiliated to Sunet, that is HEIs and other public organisations linked to research and higher education, can also apply to become members of SWAMID. To be approved as a member of SWAMID, the organisations must show that they fulfil the requirements for best practice in terms of identity management.</p>
<p>Those who deliver services that use SWAMID do not have to be members of SWAMID. On the other hand, they have to accept SWAMID’s terms and conditions for users.</p>

<h2>User support</h2>
<p>There is no central user support for SWAMID.  The member organisations themselves are responsible for providing their own user support. On the other hand, SWAMID can provide support at organisation level.</p>

<p>Sunet’s e-meeting service makes it easy to arrange remote meetings, training courses and seminars. This means that everybody can take part, irrespective of their location.</p>
<h2>How the service works</h2>
<p>Using Sunet’s e-meeting service, you can meet others via the network and:</p>

<li>communicate via chat, voice and video</li>
<li>share your screen</li>
<li>work in groups and use mini-surveys</li>
<li>record your meetings.</li>
</ul>
<p>The e-meeting service is based on <strong>Zoom</strong>, a tool for e-meetings with full functionality in Windows and MacOS X environments. It requires a computer with internet connection and a sound card/camera for communicating via voice and video.</p>
<p>Mobile applications are available for iOS and Android. The applications can be downloaded to each application centre.</p>

<p>With Sunet LMS, you can create a virtual learning environment, where teachers, students and administrators can communicate, give feedback, make presentations, collaborate, and administrate.</p>
<h2>How the service works</h2>
<p>Sunet LMS is a user-friendly cloud service, where updates and upgrades are done automatically, without any downtime. It is easy to adapt the learning platform according to your needs, and to attach functionality, such as third-party services/apps.</p>
<p>All higher education institutions (HEI) and other organisations that order the service get their own installation of the learning platform, as well as support for and training in the system.</p>
<p>Sunet LMS is based on open-source code, and the company Instructure’s Canvas service. More than 3 000 HEIs, schools and organisations around the world use Canvas.</p>

<p>All organisations affiliated to Sunet can order this service.</p>
<h2>User support</h2>
<p>Instructure helps the HEI with roll-out and implementation of the platform, and provides training and support. Sunet has an active network (SALSA), where the HEIs that use our service collaborate and exchange experiences. We bring up questions with the supplier, and arrange regular webinars and meetings, etc.</p>

<p>ORCID is an international system for giving researchers a permanent digital identification. A researcher’s ORCID is the same, irrespective of their organisational location. This makes it easier to build up a bibliography of the researcher’s publications, etc.</p>
<h2>How the service works</h2>
<p>The researcher states their ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) every time they publish their results in journals, anthologies, books or via open access. This makes it easier, both for the researcher themselves and their home organisation, to build up a bibliography of the researcher’s work.</p>
<p>The researcher has to create their own ORCID at their own initiative. The researcher also chooses whether the home organisation, publishers, libraries and other organisations shall have the right to use their ORCID and to read their information, or even update it. In this way, the terms of Swedish personal data legislation are complied with.</p>
<h2>This is required to access the service</h2>
<p>Researchers can create and use their own ORCID free of charge. But if higher education institutions (HEIs) or other organisations use ORCID in their work, they must be members of the non-profit organisation ORCID Inc. To ensure they can access ORCID’s technical system easily and securely, Sunet has entered into a consortium agreement with ORCID Inc.</p>
<p>HEIs and other organisations affiliated to Sunet can order the service. They can then sign a consortium membership agreement, and thereafter have access to ORCID’s technical APIs and authorisation service.</p>
<h2>User support</h2>
<p>Via Sunet, your organisation can access support from both Sunet and ORCID. Sunet also has a collaboration group for ORCID in Sweden, which includes all consortium members.</p>

<p>Researchers can create and use their own ORCID free of charge.</p>

<p>With the cloud-based service Sunet Survey, you can create questionnaires, course evaluations and other types of surveys, and also follow up the work in reports.<strong> </strong></p>
<h2>How the service works</h2>
<p>Sunet’s Survey tool gives your organisation a dedicated virtual copy of the Survey&amp;Report program. Using this, students and employees can carry out an unlimited number of surveys and evaluations of different types. No new user accounts are needed to log into the service, as it is integrated with the identity federation SWAMID. Users log in with their existing user account via a browser at the HEI or organisation.</p>
<p>As the builder of a survey, you follow a flow where you build up your questionnare, publish it in the way you have selected, collect response data, and create reports. If you want to continue working in an external statistics program, it is possible to export your response data.</p>
<p>Sunet’s Survey tool is accessed and managed via a browser. Questionnaires and reports are stored by the supplier, and can be accessed via the browser or the API of the service. The service is based on Survey&amp;Report, which is part of the program series Artologik from Artisan.</p>

<p>Organisations that are affiliated to Sunet and members of the identity federation SWAMID can order Sunet’s Survey tool, provided they are also affiliated to SWAMID SAML/WebSSO for login to federated web applications.<strong> </strong></p>

<p>A certificate from a trusted supplier provides basic protection and shows that the server works correctly and is protected against interception. With the help of Sunet TCS, your organisation can issue certificates for servers within your DNS domains without extra change. Personal certificates and code signature certificates are also included.</p>
<h2>How the service works</h2>
<p>The service includes the following types of certificates:</p>

<li>Server certificates for organisations with extended verification (EV)</li>
<li>Server certificates for grid use</li>

</ul>
<p>A digital certificate is a data file that consists of user data and crypto-keys. Server certificates are necessary to guarantee that the user’s computer communicates with the correct server, and that the traffic cannot be intercepted or changed. Personal certificates are issued to persons to verify their identity. They create trust, as an organisation has confirmed the person’s identity.</p>
<p>Sunet’s TCS certificate is based on GÉANT’s Trusted Certificate Service.</p>
<h2>This is required to access the service</h2>
<p>All organisations affiliated to Sunet can order Sunet’s TCS certificate. The organisation has to sign a separate affiliation agreement, and can thereafter itself issue and administer server and code signature certificates relating to its own organisation.</p>

<p>Sunet offers its users the tool Box for storing files. Using this service, you can save files in ‘the cloud’.  The files are managed via your web browser or via Box Drive.</p>
<p>The service is available for Windows and Mac, and also as an app for most mobile platforms. Data is encrypted using 256-bit AES encryption.</p>
<p>When logging in, you use SWAMID, which simplifies account and password management.</p>

<p>eduroam is a technical solution that makes it easy and secure to use wireless networks. Via international collaboration, eduroam transmits login information about users to the higher education institution or the organisation responsible for the wireless network. This makes the service rapid and convenient.</p>
<h2>How the service works</h2>
<p>To use eduroam, you will need a computer unit (laptop/mobile/tablet) wit Wi-Fi connection, and an identity (a user account or a client certificate) from an organisation affiliated to eduroam. Use your home organisation’s settings when configuring your computer to log into eduroam, irrespective of where you are located.</p>
<p>eduroam is an abbreviation of ‘education roaming’. The technology also works with wired technology, but is used primarily in wireless Wi-Fi___33 networks.</p>
<p>Every country that is connected to eduroam has its own website with detailed information about where eduroam is accessible. Eduroam.org has an international eduroam map, with links to all national eduroam websites.</p>
<h2>This is required to access the service</h2>
<p><strong>If an organisation wants to issue identities:</strong></p>
<p>In order to give your own users access to eduroam and to become an ‘identity issuer’, your organisation must either be affiliated to Sunet and a member of the identity federation SWAMID (applies to higher education institutions and other public organisations associated with research and higher education), or be a member of <a href="https://www.skolfederation.se/eduroam/">Skolfederation.se</a> (applies to primary and secondary schools), and have signed a supplementary agreement for this.</p>
<p>The advantage of being an identity issuer is that your organisation’s login servers become accessible for all who have a home organisation that is a member of SWAMID or Skolfederation.se.</p>
<p><strong>If an organisation wants to give visitors access to eduroam:</strong></p>
<p>To give visitors access to eduroam, your organisation does not have to be a member of SWAMID or <a href="https://www.skolfederation.se/eduroam/">Skolfederation.se</a>. If the visitor has an identity (a user account or a client certificate) in eduroam via their home organisation, they can log in anyway. This is free of charge.</p>
<p>Some technical specifications need to be fulfilled. You can find this information on GÉANT’s <a href="https://wiki.geant.org/display/H2eduroam/How+to+deploy+and+promote+eduroam+for+events">technically-focused wiki space for eduroam</a>. You can also contact SWAMID Operations if your organisation wants to become affiliated to the eduroam federation.</p>

<p>There is no central user support for eduroam. Organisations that order eduroam are responsible themselves for giving their own users support.  On the other hand, eduroam can provide support at organisation level.</p>

<p>Sunet’s cloud-based backup service offers your organisation a tailor-made solution.  The service is flexible. Each organisation can decide for itself what data needs to be backed up, how the material is to be encrypted, and for how long it will be saved. The focus is on the organisation having control of its contents and of the cost.</p>
<h2>How the service works</h2>
<p>Sunet’s backup service provides a high level of security. This is because it offers role-based access control linked to SWAMID’s login service, with high accessibility and parallel connections to Sunet, and with backup copies encrypted both during transport and in the entirely disc-based storage.</p>
<p>The physical data centres for the backup service are located in Sweden, and are directly connected to Sunet’s network, so data is transferred quickly and securely, and never has to leave the country. This makes it easier to comply with legal frameworks, such as GDPR.</p>
<p>Sunet’s backup service is based on IBM Spectrum Protect (previously known as Tivoli Storage Manager, TSM) and Cristie’s Bare Machine Recovery for TSM (TBMR). With 100 per cent disc-based storage, recovery of backup copies is quick. There is also comprehensive support for databases and applications, such as MS SQL, MySQL, DB2, and MS Exchange.</p>
<p>The Spectrum Protect technology that the service is based on has several data-reducing functions. It only backs up files that have changed, each file is only stored once, irrespective of how many times the file is used, and it shrinks the size of most files. In this way, the actual storage requirements are usually considerably smaller for the backup copies than for the data stored in the backed-up systems. This might result in a reduction of 40 to 70 per cent in volume.</p>
<p>Every organisation that uses the backup service has access to at least 5 Gbit/s aggregated encrypted streaming. Because the service is disc-based, it also offers very good parallelism.</p>

<p>All organisations that are affiliated to Sunet and members of the identity federation SWAMID can order Sunet Backup.</p>
<h2>User support</h2>
<p>Organisations that order the service are themselves responsible for offering support in the form of technical support and problem classification to their own users. Sunet provides support to the contact persons for the service at the organisation.</p>
<h2>What does it cost?</h2>
<p>Each organisation only pays for the amount of data that is backed up and stored. Because of the data reduction techniques used, the data volume of the backup copies will normally be considerably smaller than the original data volume, even though backup copies are created every day and saved for several months.</p>
<p>There are two different data levels for the service: ‘<em>Small</em>’ is for organisations with a low volume of data to be backed up, and ‘<em>Normal</em>’ is for organisations that generate a lot of data. The fee consists of a fixed part, which is the same irrespective of volume or number of servers, and a variable part that is based on volume:</p>
<p><strong>Small:</strong> Fixed charge of 5 500 SEK per month. The fixed charge includes 1 TB data per month stored in the service.</p>
<p>Variable charge of 1.75 SEK per GB and month for data volumes in excess of 1 TB.</p>
<p><strong>Normal:</strong> Fixed charge of 10 450 SEK per month.</p>
<p>Variable charge of 0.824 SEK per GB and month.</p>

<p>With Sunet’s cloud-based service for virtual storage, your organisation can activate various storage services with a few simple steps. Sunet’s storage service is flexible, needs-based and fully automated. You can also control the storage with a simple standardised API.</p>
<h2>How the service works</h2>
<p>Sunet’s storage service is delivered from secure data centres with good accessibility. The data is encrypted when it is stored in the service, and because the data centres are located physically within the country and are connected directly to Sunet, the data never leaves Sweden. This makes it easier to comply with legal frameworks, such as GDPR.</p>
<p>The storage service is based on the framework <em>ceph.</em> The storage is needs-based. You can choose between three types of storage, and in this way optimise the performance and capacity for the needs that best suit your organisation:</p>

<p>There are two different types of interface for accessing the storage pools:</p>
<ul>
<li>Block storage, direct access as a standard disc via virtual machines in the IaaS infrastructure</li>
<li>Object storage, via S3 API gateways</li>
</ul>
<p>Alternatives of block storage type, exported to the customer’s own network via iSCSI over IPSec can be arranged.</p>
<p>In organisations with performance discs and mixed storage, the service is integrated with SWAMID and can also be accessed via a web portal for self-provisioning.</p>

<p>All organisations affiliated to Sunet can order Sunet Storage.</p>
<h2>User support</h2>
<p>Organisations that order the service are themselves responsible for offering support in the form of technical support and problem classification to their own users. Sunet provides support to the contact persons for the service at the organisation.</p>

<p>eduID is a digital identity for organisations within education and research. With eduID, students and employees at affiliated higher education institutions (HEIs) can quickly obtain a local IT account, and thereby access their local IT resources. An eduID identity can be used before, during and after the period of studies.</p>
<h2>How the service works</h2>
<p>You can create an eduID identity via <a href="http://eduid.se/">eduid.se</a> and adapt it to the security level required by the service where the identity is to be used. There are several levels and combinations for differing needs, from low security level, where confirmation of email address is sufficient, to very high security level via e-identification following completion of document checks.</p>
<h2>Use eduID to:</h2>
<ul>
<li>get access to local IT accounts of affiliated HEIs, and thereby to local IT resources</li>
<li>reset passwords for local IT accounts of affiliated HEIs</li>
<li>use multi-factor login in systems that required high login security</li>
<li>apply for and confirm courses and programmes at <a href="http://antagning.se/">antagning.se</a></li>
</ul>
<p>System owners can also use eduID for guest login, which eliminates the need for local accounts.</p>
<p>The purpose of eduID is to offer HEIs in particular joint procedures for identity handling. With eduID, the organisation does not have to invest in local management of e-accounts. The service guarantees secure, mobile-adapted login, and creates well-identified and authenticated users.</p>

<h2>What is required to access the service?</h2>
<p>eduID is aimed particularly at organisations linked to education and research, and is included in the joining fee for Sunet. All services linked to SWAMID can use eduID straight away.</p>
<h2>User support</h2>
<p>Support for eduID is accessed via <a href="mailto:support@eduid.se">support@eduid.se</a>. When contacting the support, please state the email address you use when logging into edID. In the event of a fault, you are welcome to include screen dumps with error messages to make fault finding easier.<strong> </strong></p>
<h2><strong>What does it cost?</strong></h2>
<p>eduID is included in the fee for Sunet, and there is no added charge for students and employees at HEIs affiliated to Sunet.</p>

<p>Sunet security operations center offers joint tools and subsidiary services to protect units connected to the network and their infrastructure, both proactively and retroactively. The service works as competence support for IT and information security.</p>
<p><strong>How the service works</strong></p>
<p>The service consists of several parts. The connection to Sunet includes:</p>
<ul>
<li>monitoring, verifying and notifying critical vulnerabilities</li>
<li>coordinating incident management between organisations and within Sunet’s own services</li>
<li>facilitating and encouraging networking, knowledge dissemination and competence sharing within the sector</li>
<li>cooperation between organisations, providing advice and sharing information</li>
<li>establishing and maintaining relationships with other incident management organisations</li>
<li>managing and developing contact registers for all affiliated organisations.</li>
</ul>
<p>The security operations center also offers:</p>
<ul>
<li>proactive notification, log analysis and development of subsidiary services</li>
<li>establishment of an overarching process with support activities for every threat or event</li>
<li>help to identify skills development needs within the affiliated organisations.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>This is required to access the service</strong></p>
<p>All organisations affiliated to Sunet can without additional charge partake of the services included in the basic range offered by Sunet’s security operations center.</p>
<p><strong>User support</strong></p>
<p>There is no central user support for Sunet’s security operations center. Organisations that order the service are responsible themselves for giving their own users support. On the other hand, Sunet can provide support at organisation level. An active online community also shares advice and tips via mailing lists and chat channels.</p>

<p>Via Sunet’s network, SunetC, Swedish higher education institutions (HEIs) and other public organisations involved in research or higher education can get access to the internet and the global research networks. And it is just as stable, quick and secure in Abisko in Lapland as in the centre of Stockholm.</p>
<p><strong>How Sunet’s network works</strong></p>
<p>Sunet’s network, SunetC, offers standard routed network access. It is also possible to get a dedicated connection straight between two points, via a non-routed connection. We can also link together two computer networks, so that they function as a joint network, for example when HEIs are collaborating. Similar dedicated connections with research networks in other countries can often be arranged in collaboration with other research networks.</p>
<p>Sunet’s network consist of a rented optical fibre in a structure with three physical routes through Sweden. In this way, we achieve as great accessibility as possible. The fibre routes, together with the equipment selected by Sunet, create almost 100 per cent protection against operational disruption. All equipment also has secured electricity supply, so that electricity cuts do not result in cuts in the data transport.</p>
<p>To achieve diversity and redundancy, most organisations have double connections.</p>

<p>A basic requirement for being part of Sunet’s network is that the activities are related to research or higher education. Swedish HEIs are affiliated to the network through our appropriation documents. Other HEIs and other public organisations linked to research or higher education can sign agreements with Sunet to become affiliated.</p>

<p>Sunets molnbaserade tjänst för virtuella servrar är flexibel och fullt automatiserad. Med få, enkla steg kan din organisation starta nya servrar i molnet. Det går även att styra servrar med ett standardiserat API.</p>
<h2>Så fungerar tjänsten</h2>
<p>Sunets molnbaserade tjänst för virtuella servrar levereras från säkra datahallar med hög tillgänglighet. Data som lagras i tjänsten lämnar aldrig Sverige eftersom datahallarna befinner sig fysiskt inom landet och är direktanslutna till Sunet. Det gör det lättare att följa rättsliga ramverk som GDPR.</p>
<p>Sunets Virtuella servar har rollbaserad åtkomstkontroll knuten till SWAMIDs inloggningstjänst.  Eftersom tjänsten använder sig av krypterad kommunikation har den hög säkerhet. Samtidigt har den hög tillgänglighet i och med att nätverksanslutningarna till Sunet är parallella med hög kapacitet som byggs ut efter behov. Det finns också möjlighet att boka resurser på en sekundär geografisk plats.</p>
<p>Tjänsten ger din organisation full kontroll på sina kostnader för virtuella servrar – det finns inga transaktionskostnader eller kostnader för nättrafik. Lagringen är elastisk; organisationen bokar och betalar för det som verkligen behövs. När det handlar om att hantera toppar eller korta laster går det att använda sig av timdebitering. Organisationer som binder upp sig i ett eller tre år får rabatt.</p>
<p>Tjänsten har olika typkonfigurationer av servrar med dynamisk lagring och kan utökas för att täcka nya behov. Den är baserad på ramverket OpenStack och har tagits fram i samarbete med ledande experter inom säkerhet samt världsledande leverantör av SDN- och Cloud-teknologi.</p>
<p>Andra fördelar med tjänsten:</p>

<li>Det går att välja flera alternativ av tjänsten med olika kapacitet (antal vCPU och GB RAM).</li>
<li>Elastiska servrar ger stor flexibilitet, VMs kan styras genom API-anrop.</li>
<li>Hög nätverksprestanda och mjukvarudefinierade virtuella nätverk gör det enkelt att särskilja trafik.</li>
<li>Det finns färdiga templates med images för unix, Linux och Eval för Windows 2012R2.</li>
<li>För att placera egna images finns en Image library.</li>
</ul>

<h2>Användarstöd</h2>
<p>Varje organisation som beställer tjänsten är själv ansvarig för att erbjuda support i form av teknikstöd och problemklassificering till sina egna användare. Sunet ger support till de kontaktpersoner för tjänsten som finns på organisationerna.</p>
